Before Andy Warhol managed the band The Velvet Underground, he occasionally sang backup in a band called “The Druds”. Minimalist Walter De Maria played drums, painter Larry Poons guitar and composer LaMonte Young saxophone. Patty Oldenburg was the lead singer and Jasper Johns wrote lyrics.
